Even in 2026, Operation: Seraph's Shield remains one of the Exotic missions I get asked about most often. I first ran it during Season of the Seraph, and I still recommend it to any Guardian who wants to learn how Bungie designs meaningful puzzles and combat flow. The mission sends you deep into a Seraph Station to upload a virus for Rasputin, and at the end you earn Revision Zero, an Exotic Pulse Rifle that has stayed relevant in my loadouts. How I Unlocked Operation: Seraph's Shield

Before anything else, you need to unlock the mission. I spent the third week of Season of the Seraph pushing through the More Than a Weapon storyline until the Exotic quest became available. From the H.E.L.M. destination map, I selected Operation: Seraph's Shield and loaded in with a fireteam of three. You can solo it, but bringing even one extra Guardian makes the final encounter far less stressful.

Entering the Facility and Learning the Scanner Augment

At the start, I had to sneak past security towers and find the facility entrance. Deploying my Ghost helped me see the quest marker briefly, which made navigation much easier. After taking the first left and slipping past a few security lasers, I reached a room filled with Fallen enemies. This is where the first major mechanic appears.

One enemy in that room carries the Scanner Augment, the same mechanic from the Deep Stone Crypt Raid. With it, I could view scannable objects around the room. This Augment is essential throughout the mission because multiple doors require scanning three objects before you can deposit the Augment and unlock the path forward.

I learned quickly that Operation: Seraph's Shield is not just a shooting gallery. It constantly mixes combat encounters with puzzles, and I needed to watch for vents and other hidden routes to move deeper into the station.

Surviving the Floor Puzzle

Deeper inside the facility, I hit the first major puzzle that really tests a fireteam. A large room is filled with Fallen, and there is a Scanner Augment available. I had to look through the glass into the next room and identify the correct consoles to interact with. Only one path is safe.

The consoles change between runs, so I always use the Scanner Augment to check the correct sequence every time. Stepping on the wrong tile or interacting with the wrong console kills you instantly. The safe path itself stays consistent, so once I memorized the layout, the puzzle became much easier for repeat runs.

Operator and Suppressor Augments

After the puzzle room, I discovered the Operator Augment. This one highlights active control panels in red, which can be shot to open doors. I alternated between Scanner and Operator Augments to work my way through the rest of the facility. It is a satisfying rhythm once you understand it.

Near the final boss encounter, I picked up the Suppressor Augment next to a shielded Servitor. Four balls floated in the air, and three of them glowed blue. I had to shoot the shielded enemy once while standing under each glowing ball to suppress it. This same mechanic appears again in the final boss fight, so learning it before the encounter is essential.

The Final Boss and Rewards

The final encounter follows the same logic. I used the Suppressor Augment throughout the fight to break the boss's defenses and deal damage. It took me a few tries on my first run, but once my fireteam understood the three Augments, everything clicked.

The reward is worth it. Revision Zero is an excellent Exotic Pulse Rifle, and I still find reasons to use it in 2026. The mission also teaches the three Deep Stone Crypt Augments, which helps prepare players for the Raid and reworked weapons.
